Notre Dame

Notre Dame

Paris, France

Taken during one of my many walks in Paris during a stay in July 2008 and it showcases the care that has been consistently applied to maintaining and enjoying their substantial historical legacy. Overall, Paris left an overwhelmingly positive impression on me, much more so than on a previous visit (in 1994). The city was much cleaner than I remembered but more importantly the "spirit" in the air seemed much brighter. Perhaps it was just me, but I suspect that something else had changed as well. On this visit, literally everything was something to cherish. The Parisans I encountered were absolutely charming, as well as being efficient, hard-working, polite, and more often than not completely fluent in English and able to slide from one language to the next with graceful ease. Paris really is a jewel.
