The Doorway of Science

Oxford

Schola Naturalis Philosophiae was one of the original "schools" in the Main Quad of the Bodleian Library. John Gribbon has argued (in his book "The Fellowship" which chronicles the emergence of the Royal Society), and done so with some merit, that several of the key attributes of modern science emerged from a group of practicing scientists active in Oxford in the mid-seventeenth century. This makes this door even more interesting.
